I believe that as we love others we are revealing God. The Word tells us that God made us in His likeness. In Genesis 1:26-28 it says, “Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us’…” So God created us in His own image.
If God made us in His likeness, in His image, to be like “us” (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit), then can we say that each one of us is showing an attribute of God? If I look at Pastor Scott, can I say that I am seeing a part of God that before I met him, I never saw before? If I look at Pastor Lydia, can I say that I am seeing a part of God that before I met her, I never saw before? When I see a new person whom I have never met before, am I seeing a part of God I have never seen before? When I get to know them and their personality, am I learning something new about God and are they learning something about God through me?
Since we are made in God’s image, revealing God everywhere we go, then we are representing a part of Him that others have not yet seen. So how we go about our life is very important, especially if God is Love. In 1John 4:16 we are told that God IS love. So to know love, is to know God. So if God is Love, does that mean we are also “Love” walking around in His image?
We ALL have the opportunity to be “Love” to those around us that we know. And those we don’t. If we have eyes to see the one in front of us, viewing each person we meet as God Himself revealed, then how can we help but love? There are people right now all around you, maybe your family, maybe those at work, or even strangers on the street who know nothing of God’s love, nothing of who He is at all. Be Him. Be you. Be the representative of “Love” Himself that you are called to be. And see the person who before was just another stranger out there, as “Love” Himself. See them as a part of God you have never seen before and love on Him through them!
Enjoy being love & loved,
